The saying "Necessity is the mother of invention" certainly applies to Manchester Wholesale Distributors, Inc. The company was founded by Robert Tetu in 1939 out of necessity after Robert was told by his employer that his existing job with the local distributor of tobacco, candy and beer was being lost due to the bankruptcy of that company. From humble beginnings as a one man operation in 1939 to the position the company enjoys in today's market has been one of many challenges. During this period of time, the company moved several times always seeking more warehouse space for its growing operations.

In 1961, Robert's son Emile came into the business on a full time basis after having graduated from college with a degree in business administration and business law. With new blood coming into the family business, new product lines were being added on a regular basis. To the basic tobacco and candy lines were added paper products, health & beauty care and snack foods.

In 1975 Robert retired and Emile became the second president of the company. Diversification continued at a slow pace during the following few years as the new management studied the market and tried to stay ahead of the changes in the industry. In 1979 the company invested in its first computer system. During the period of the early 1980's, the company continued to expand its offerings such as retail grocery items, beverages, and food service products.

From a period in the late 1970's through the beginning of the 21st century, the company acquired several of its competitors expanding its product lines and territory. The continued expansion resulted in a full reach throughout the State of NH and areas just over the borders on all sides complimented with our full line of convenience store products and food service establishment offerings. The turn of the century also saw an expanded management team evolve. Led by Emile's son Raymond as the Chief Executive Officer, our team is ready to provide a complete range of services that include new store set-ups and food service development. We assist our customers with equipment purchases and provide product promotional programs in house that tie in with manufacturer offerings.

Our reputation for excellence keeps our efforts focused on continuing and increasing the quality levels of customer service and satisfaction.
